Just 4 Kids Named a Muddy Stilettos Awards Finalist! 🌟

Celebrating our nomination for Best Children's Business in Cornwall
We were incredibly proud to be named a finalist for Best Children's Business in Cornwall in the Muddy Stilettos Awards. Although we didn't take home the overall award, being nominated by the public and making it through to the final was something really special — particularly because working with children has been such a huge part of the Just 4 Kids story.
From children's entertainment to performing arts đź’™
The Just 4 Kids journey actually began long before our weekly performing arts classes.
I've spent more than 20 years working with children through children's entertainment, performing arts and teaching.
Over the years, that has included everything from princesses, superheroes and children's parties to holiday activities, special events and workshops — both here in the UK and during my time working in Los Angeles- there have been an awful lot of costumes, games, music, laughter and slightly chaotic moments along the way!
But throughout all of those different experiences, the thing I've loved most has always been the same:
Creating experiences where children can have fun, use their imaginations and feel special.
And eventually, that journey led to the creation of Just 4 Kids Performing Arts.
A new chapter for Just 4 Kids ✨
In 2023, I decided to take everything I'd learned from years of working with children and create the kind of performing arts school I'd really want children to be part of.
I didn't want it to be somewhere children felt they had to arrive already being brilliant at singing, dancing or acting.
I wanted somewhere they could:
💙 Feel accepted and included🌟 Grow in confidence🎠Use their imagination and creativity🤝 Make friends and learn to work as a team🎶 Develop their singing, dancing and acting skills✨ Have an enormous amount of fun
Most importantly, I wanted children to feel that they could have a go without worrying about being perfect.
That's still at the heart of J4K today.
Why the nomination meant so much
Being recognised as a finalist for Best Children's Business in Cornwall felt particularly meaningful because it wasn't simply about one event or one class. It represented years of working with children and families — and all the different forms Just 4 Kids has taken along the way.
We didn't ultimately win the award, and that's absolutely okay. Making it to the final was something we were incredibly proud of in itself.
Even more lovely was knowing that people had taken the time to nominate and vote for us.
For a small local children's business, that kind of support genuinely means a lot.
And the J4K story keeps growing… 🌱
What started as just two performing arts classes with 14 children has now grown to seven weekly classes and more than 100 children across Truro, Falmouth and Grampound.
But although J4K has grown, what matters to us hasn't really changed.
It's still about the individual child.
The one who arrives bursting through the door desperate to perform.
The one who stands quietly beside Mum or Dad on their first week.
The one who loves singing but isn't sure about dancing yet.
The one who finally puts their hand up.
The one who makes a new friend.
And the one who walks off stage at the end of term looking incredibly proud of themselves.
Those are our favourite achievements. đź’›
Thank you for being part of it
To every family who nominated us, voted for us or has supported Just 4 Kids over the years — thank you.
And to every child who has walked through our doors, whether it was for a party many years ago, a holiday workshop or one of our performing arts classes today, thank you for being part of the J4K story.
Being a Muddy Stilettos finalist was a lovely milestone.
But we're even more excited about what comes next. ✨
